Hydrogen-powered Mach 5 plane

ZDNet had an interesting post today abouta plane being developed by the EU’s Long-Term Advanced Propulsion Concepts and Technologies project (LAPCAT). It’s a jet powered by hydrogen designed to carry passengers over very long distances very quickly. According to the post, it achieves higher fuel economy using engines that have different modes for above and below Mach 2.5. And it will cost the same as a current business class ticket?!
